The Silver Cradle Award was created by The Cradle to recognize corporate partners for their commitment to adoption and to their employees. Awarded at The Cradle’s annual gala since 2003, the Silver Cradle recognizes companies that offer adoption-related benefits, programs and resources.
The force was strong with The Cradle at this year's Walk for Adoption. Over 150 Cradle friends and family (our biggest Cradle Crew yet!) gathered at Lake Arlington to raise awareness for adoption in the Chicago area, as well as to help raise funds for The Cradle's Center for Lifelong Adoption Support.
National Adoption Month is upon us yet again. Though we celebrate adoption each day, November gives us a reason to focus on the importance of adoption in our lives, and say thank you to those who made it possible: from selfless birth parents to adoption counselors and beyond.

The Cradle's Center for Lifelong Adoption Support has unveiled an exciting new therapy space. Filled with all the toys, books and games your child could imagine, as well as a puppet theatre and giant chalkboard, the non-directive play therapy room is officially open for Cradle counseling sessions.
This year's Wild West themed Walk for Adoption was one for the books! With over 400 participants, ranging from infants to grandparents, the 2017 Walk was the biggest yet. Our Cradle Crew was also the largest we have ever seen with around 130 team members!
This year’s Sayers Summer Soiree on July 20 was a blast! From the silliness of the heads-or-tails game, to the surprise of extra raffle prizes, the night was full of fun, excitement and laughter. It was also full of excellent food and drink, including delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, a pizza and burger bar, and decadent desserts.
Last year, Cradle staff members hosted a discussion group for birth mothers. We got to know each woman and learn about their unique adoption journey. As what typically happens when a group of amazing, intelligent women get together, important conversation flowed freely. We learned a lot from these incredible mothers, and we think you can, too.
In 2014, I walked into my position as a work-study intern for The Cradle completely new to the whole “adoption thing.” When I thought of adoption, I pictured families journeying to far-off countries to bring their children home, or young adults searching for birth parents who have been absent their whole lives. About certain aspects I wasn’t far off.
