This year's Wild West themed Walk for Adoption was one for the books! With over 400 participants, ranging from infants to grandparents, the 2017 Walk was the biggest yet. Our Cradle Crew was also the largest we have ever seen with around 130 team members!
From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, attendees had a blast walking the 2.4 miles around Lake Arlington, playing carnival games, decorating bandanas and even jumping in the bounce house. There was a raffle for older walkers and a picnic lunch for everyone. Woody and Jessie even made a surprise appearance to hang out with the kids and take some photos.
The Cradle Crew had a lot of fun with the "Get to Know The Cradle Crew" activity. This fast-paced hunt for different team members helped the Crew get to meet one another, and of course, it ended with great prizes for the quickest searchers!
"It was great to see friendships forming not only in the adoption community, but also among the Cradle Crew, where people are connected to the Cradle in so many different ways," says Cradle adoption therapist Mandy Jones.
This fantastic event began in 2010 when two adoptive mothers wanted to find a way to bring the Chicago adoption community together and celebrate adoption. This year was the second year of partnering with Chicago Area Families for Adoption (CAFFA).
Thank you to all of the families, friends, and Cradle staff members who attended and helped make the day a success! And thank you to Walk for Adoption Chicago for hosting such a wonderful event!
