Eliana & Michele

Hello! We are Eliana and Michele. Our story began in Italy before we arrived here in the United States several years ago. Now we are so excited to begin a new chapter as parents together!

We would like to share our story with you – to give you an idea of our past, present, and what life in our future family will be like. Additionally, we hope to give you an idea of our adventures and values.

We understand this is likely a difficult time for you, and we wish you peace as you make the best decision for you and your child.

Thank you for getting to know us better! We look forward to sharing more with you and to continue this amazing journey together!

Our Story

This long process of trainings and discussions has helped us to learn a lot about open adoption. We now understand how important it is for the child’s emotional happiness. You are, and will always be, an important person in his/her life. We are committed to creating and maintaining an open and meaningful relationship with you that can work for all of us.

We plan to create a journal with pictures and a timeline of memories to keep all the important & fun stories as a way to maintain a connection with you, as the birthparent. We plan to transparently discuss open adoption, honestly telling our story, our thoughts, and our feelings about it. We are open to exchanging photos and updates along the years, keeping in touch through phone, e-mail and visits, and always being honest with you.

We greatly admire your strength and courage to consider an open adoption, and we are committed to communicating and maintaining the contact level with which you feel the most comfortable.

Eliana and I met 10 years ago in our hometown of Udine, a small city in northeast Italy, not far from the famous Venice.

In 2013, after 6 years of dating in Italy, Eliana received a fantastic job offer from a great U.S. company to work as a Coffee Scientist in New York City! After long discussions and lists of pro and cons, we quickly got married, prepared our luggage and put our lives on a plane! We were full of enthusiasm and optimism, but at the same time, completely scared for a new beginning so far away from home.

After two years, the same company relocated us to the Windy City…it was completely unexpected! After a couple of years another relocation in Appleton, Wisconsin, just a few hours from Chicago. We have many close friends in Chicagoland and we are visiting them very often. Throughout the many years we’ve been together, and all of the life changes we’ve gone through, our marriage has grown to be so strong. Despite some sad and tough moments, we have found incredible happiness together and are each other’s best friend. Now we enjoy our life together more than ever!

While we are still very close to our extended families and friends in Italy, we feel that our adopted country is the US now. We love to live here and we are planning to stay in the U.S. for the foreseeable future!

Eliana is 100% my best friend. Most of all, I can always count on her for precious advice and for the strength she transmits to me.

Eliana is an expert in coffee science and she taught me so much over time about science in general! She has traveled the world for education, work, and in doing so, Eliana is in touch with many different cultures. Needless to say, she is a very flexible person who can adapt very quickly.

Eliana has a great heart and would do anything to help a person in need. She is like a mom to Diego (our small dog) and their relationship is so magical even if, sometimes, she tends to be a little overprotective.

She always talks about future plans, new projects, and things to do together. What I can tell you for sure is that there is never a dull moment with Eliana!

Michele is the most caring, loving, patient, and determined person I’ve ever met! He is definitely my best friend and the only one who can complete me!

He is very close to his family - particularly with his mom. They can talk for hours!

He is an avid fan of everything related to aviation. Planes have been his big passion since he was a teenager. He has never missed any air exhibition or aviation museum; he can also answer any question about civil or military planes, from their speed to the weird names of the technical characteristics!

He never stops learning through reading and studying - from marketing to politics and history. He is always happy to discover new things and he is a great listener.

I really can’t wait to see him become a fantastic dad! I know I will fall in love again seeing how much love he will give to this little one!

Family is one of the strongest values for us! Our parents and relatives are still our reference points and they will be part of our lives.

We firmly believe in the importance of education as a powerful tool to grow and improve in life, and to overcome the challenges of the future. We would also love to share the multiple languages we speak (English, Italian and Spanish), as we believe this will be a great opportunity for the future of the baby!

Life in our family will be built on values of honesty, kindness, respect, generosity and happiness. There will never be a dull moment: travels are the greatest way to learn about cultures and to appreciate differences among people!

Having a healthy attitude is very important for us as well: participating in sports and cooking healthy
homemade meals together are part of our family traditions.

We would like to thank you for taking the time get to know us. This book only scratches surface of who we are and how we will be as parents. We are very ready and excited for our family to grow through adoption and we will always respect and honor our child's true story. We wish you peace as you make the decision that is right for you and your baby.
