Double your dollars while supporting services to birthparents:
Help us meet the challenge!
In November 2009, The Cradle received a challenge grant from an Illinois foundation that wishes to remain anonymous. The foundation will match at 100% every dollar that we raise up to $12,500 in 2010 and $12,500 in 2011.
*Your gift will qualify if:
- This is your first gift ever to The Cradle (welcome!)
- The gift you give to this effort is greater than the amount of your last gift. For example: Your last gift was $100 & your current gift is $125; $25 will count toward the match (thank you!)
- You haven’t given to The Cradle in the past two years (welcome back!)
Funds will be used to support critical services for vulnerable pregnant women, including:
- Skilled, compassionate counseling
- Medical care
- Assistance with housing, transportation, groceries, maternity clothes and other day-to-day necessities
- Referrals and follow up support
One recent client wrote in an e-mail to her counselor:
I want to tell you, once again, how much you and The Cradle have meant to me. What I felt might be such a traumatic experience was so much easier, knowing that others really were concerned, that you had MY well-being as one of your foremost concerns... I did not just feel alone – I WAS alone. You made me feel like a friend from day one. I felt cared for and understood. Thank you for listening.

In 2009, 917 women facing an unplanned pregnancy contacted The Cradle. Of those, 281 (33%) received some level of counseling services. Yet just 76 (35%) of the women who received services went on to complete an adoption plan.
